Brian was born on August 14, 1970, in Washington DC, but he and his parents soon returned to their home on Elbow Cay in Abacos in the out islands of the Bahamas. The Malone family has resided in the Abacos since they settled the islands there in 1785. Growing up on Elbow Cay, sailing was a necessity–how to get from place to place. So, Brian began sailing on his own at the age of six on Abaco Dinghies and he has sailed everything he could get his hands on ever since.
